Eco-Camp
Angling is great fun at Bhalukpong Eco-Camp. Catch the playful trout
or golden mahseer, a fierce game fish, in the Jia-Bhoroli river
flowing through the Bhalukpong reserve. Go rafting, trekking, bird-watching,
trek to a hot spring nearby. Visit the adjacent Nameri National
Park and the orchidarium at Tipi, 5km away in Arunachal Pradesh.
When to go : November to April
How to get there: Bhalukpong is 250 km from Guwahati and is well
connected by road. Tezpur, 65km away, has an airport.
What to wear : Cotton in summer & woolen in
winter are recommended. Tourists are also advised to take mosquito
repellants along.
Rukmini Island
This river island near Dibrugarh is a nature lover's exclusive retreat
with a beautiful view of the outer Himalayas. Beautiful migratory
birds descend on the shimmering water and endangered dolphins pop
out to greet you here. Just leave your worries behind and enjoy
country-boating, water-scootering, hack ride, kayaking, parasailing,
ski boarding, water sking and angling here.
Golf Tee
off in style in the magnificent tea estates with their picturesque
golf courses. All golf courses in Assam have nine holes except for
Digboi (run by the world's oldest operational refinery), which has
an 18-hole course.
Angling
An annual angling competition is regularly organized by the Assam
Bhoroli Anglers' Association annually in November in Jia-Bhoroli
where a number of anglers from India and overseas participate every
year. You will also love angling in Subansiri and Kopili rivers.
River Cruise
Explore the Brahmaputra, one of the four largest rivers in the world,
and see the changing topography and lifestyles from as you go downstream
or against the flow.
Boat racing
It is a popular traditional sport in Assam, comparable to Kerala's
snake-boat racing. Boat races are organized during festivals at
places like Hajo, Sualkuchi, Barpet and Guwahati.

North Guwahati is an ideal location for parasailing other than Rukmini
Island.
