Assam, as a tourist destination corresponds to a world of pleasant
contrasts and excitement. Each place of the state has something
celestial and amazing diversity to offer. Journey through this land
is bound to stir up your mind and stimulate you to see more, learn
more. Many call it a land of magic and ethreal. Some call it a green
paradise. As the most vibrant part of the North Eastern India, Assam

Location:
Situated between 90-96 degree East Iongitude and 24-28 degree North
latitude, Assam is bordered in the north and east by the kingdom
of Bhutan and the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Along the south lies
Nagaland, Manipur and to athe extreme south lies Mizoram. Meghalaya
lies to her southwest, West Bengal and Bangladesh to her west.
Season
:
Assam dwells in different moods at different points of time. She
has four well-defined seasons, summer, monsoon, winter and spring.
Winter season is from October to March and Spring starts from April.
This is the best time to visit Assam. A mild and moderate climate
never given to extreme cold or heat, is the main feature of Assam's
climate.

Light woolen in winter and cotton in summer.
Transport
& Communication:
Air: The Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International
Airport of Guwahati is well connected by air with New Delhi, Kolkata,
Mumbai and Chennai. The Indian Airlines, Sahara and Jet Airways
operate regular flights to Guwahati. The other towns of Assam to
which Indian Airlines operates flights are Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur,
North Lakhimpur and Silchar. Air India operates flights to Bangkok
and other places through Bangkok.
Rail: Assam is well connected by train with the
rest of the country. There are train services from Kolkata, Delhi,
Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin & Thiruvanantapuram. The
B.G. line connection is upto Dibrugarh and the M.G. line also connects
Haflong and Silchar.
Bus Service: A network of National Highways and
other roads connect all the important places of Assam. All the towns
of Assam are well connected by the Assam State Transport Corporation
and other tourist bus services. These buses also ply to the capitals
of the neighbouring states.
