Red
fort It
was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It took 10 years from 1638-48
& about nine crores of rupees ( 90 million ) to complete it.
It is made of red stone which perhaps has imported it it's name.
The fort house several historical buildings done under the reputed
architect Muramat Khan . Some chief sights within the fort are,
Delhi Gate, Lahori Gate, Meena Bzaar, Justice Court, Hamaams Buraj,
Moti Masjid, Hayat Bux Garden, Sawan Bhadon, Zaffer Mahal, Sah Buraj
& Museum etc. Every evening light & music ( Son et Limmerie
) shows are exhibited at Red Fort.
Jama Masjid
It's 11/2 km away from Red Fort. This too was built by Shah Jahan
the Mughal Emperor. The height of it's minarets enable one to have
a panoramic view of the vastness of Delhi & its surroundings.
Built up with red & black stone this mosqueis so large tat more
than 20,000 persons at a time, can say their prayers in obeisance
to almighty. It was built in 1650-56.
Old Fort
Commonly known as Purana Quilla was constructed by the great Afgan
ruler Sher Shah Suri after 16th centry.Architectually, it is a splendid
spcimen bult on the banks of river Yamuna. Outside the fort boating
excursion arrangment is provided. Music & light shows are shown
evening. It was, in this, in this fort that the Mughal emperor Humayun
met his death.
India Gate Located
on the eastern end of Rajpath this memorial was built in memory
of martyrs of the 1st World War. Sir Lutyeus was the architect of
this 42 meters high monument. it's construction was begun in 1921
& took 10 years to complete it. A gun & Helmet is displayed
in the middle of this gate while a perpetually buringflame keeps
playing homage to the wars martyrs.
Rashtrapati Bhawan
This palatial building was built by the British. Situated on the
Rayseena hill it is spread over an area of 330 acres. As the official
residence of the President of India it is one of the famous building
of the world. In the west of this building is Mughal Garden which
is the centre of attraction owing to it's charming array of flowres
& plants.
Parliament House
Also called Sansad Bhawan. This building too, was built by the British.
On 18th January, 1927 Lord Irwin performed it's opening ceremony.
Its globular in sahpe & is supported by mass of 136 pillars.
Within this house are houdes seperately both the houses of Parliament
i.e. Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha.
Jantar Mantar
It was built in 1725 AD, by Rajah of Jaipur Sawai Jai Singh 2nd,
as an observatory. Position of Sun, Moon & other planets can
be determined with the aid of built in instruments which are six
in numbers among these six; Samrat, Ram, Jai Prakash, Mishra etc
are prominent. Bahai Temple or Lotus Temple
This temple has the apperance of white lotus amidest
green landscape beautiful close to Kalkaji hall. It was built by
the Bahai communitu. It is an attractive worth seeing spot to visit.It's
opening ceremony took place in 1987.
Birla Mandir
It is Lakshmi Narayan Tample & a prominent temple of the Hindus.
Situated in New Delhi, this temple was constructed in 1938 by a
distiguished industrialist Raja Baldev Dass Birla that is why it
is known as Birla Mandir. Here, one cqan have holy sights of Shri
Lakshmi Narayanji as also other Hindu Gods & Goddesses.
Rajghat
This is samadhi of the father of the Nation. Mahatma Gandhi's last
rites were performed here. Every visitor to Delhi impulsively visits
Rajghat topay homage to the father of the Nation.

It is the samadhi of Rajiv Gandhi the late young Prime Minister
of the country.

Humayun's Tomb
It was constructed in 1655 AD by Begum Haji Begum the wdow of the
earier Mughal Emperor Humayun oer hs grave. This is surrounded by
a garden of Mughal days & several Mughal dignitaries had also
been buried here.
Qutab Minar
It is believed to be tallest tower in the world which incidently
is a matter of pride for India. This tower is 73 meter tall. According
to a school of thought it was built by Prithvi Raj Chauhan who had
it called ' Prithvi Laat ' , i.e. Prithvi Tower. But in AD 1200
when Qutubuddin Aibak successed in establishing Muslim rule in India
the transformed Prithvi Tower into victory tower naming Qutab Minar
after his name. He had incorporated in it beautiful Afghan architecture.
Its first storeys are built with red-sand stone whie next 2 are
built in marble.It's fist section was launched by Qutubuddin Aibak
& the remaining section was completed after his death by his
son-in-law & successor Sultan Altanush in AD 1236. The radius
of this tower at its ground level is 14.32 meteres which tapers
to 2.75 metres at its top. Beautiful decorations are inscribed with
in this tower which surprise the on lookers. Even its situated 15
kms south of Delhi & is visible from afar.
Teen Murti Bhawan
It was the official residence of the first Prime Minister of India
: Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru who breathed his last here in 1964. This
house is also one of the imperial times buildings. After Nehru's
death this place is converted to appear a museum.
Gandhi
Memorial
The residence of Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi is well known as Birla
house where on 30th January, 1948 Gandhiji was martyred. It has
been converted into museumwhere his life is depicted through photographs
in a beautiful arrangments.
Indira Memorial
Located on Safdarjung Marg this was the official residence of country's
darling Prime Minister late Shrimati Indira Gandhi. On 31st October
1984, she was assassinated here, bullets riddled her, bullet marks
can still be seen here. Presently her residnce is transformed into
a museum representing her life.
Air Force Museum
It is situated near Palam Aerodrome. Here on displauy are : History
of Indian Air Force, Aeroplanes, Uniforms, Arms, Armaments &
Ammunation etc. Observating them all one learns more about the operational
functions of the Indian Air Force.
Doll Museum
Famous cartoonist Shaker had built up primarily a personal collection
of dolls in 1954 which today is known world wide. National Museum
At Janpath (road ) this museum exhibits priceless casted & sculpted
statues & idols of India & Central Asia.
National Science Centre
Near gate no. 1 of Pragati Maidan is situated this centre of introduction
with Indian Heritage of Science dating back to about 4500 yrs or
