The north directional flow of Ganga is about 105 km. from Baidyanathdham
Deoghar and is known as Sultanganj, from where people carry the
pious Ganga water and come upto Deoghar on foot and then worship
Lord Shiva.
This pilgrimage continues during the whole of Sravan for 30 days.
Hence this religious fair is considered as being the longest fair
of the world. People from foreign lands also visit here. The Sravan
fair remains so crowded that is seems one human chain of 105 km.
All the pilgrims wear saffron colour dresses. They recite 'Bol-Bum'
incessantly.
Here almost all the types of untouchability vanish. One general
survey speaks that within one month almost 52 to 56 lacs of people
visit.
According to one myth, this Kanwariya (Pilgrimage) convention was
started in 'Trenta Period'.
Besides the great pilgrimage of Srawan almost the whole year remains
under fair with Shivratri (March), Basant Panchami (January), Bhadra
Purnima (September).

This ghat has remained the great centre of Tantra, Vagrayani Sara,
Mantrayani Shakha (Branch), Nath community of Shaivitte remained
main Hindu cult of Deoghar during early phase.
