Gujarat : Geological
Gujarat
has some great geological sites. Dinosaur fossils have been found
in Balasinor and the Panchmahals, and the area is believed by geologists
to have been a hatchery 650 million years ago.The Little and Great
Rann of Kutch, as also the nearby Bhal and Banni plains, are said
to have been an ancient sea bed converted by natural forces to saline
desert. Marine fossils are still found in this desert zone. Malir
garden at Vithon in Kutch has a fine collection of petrified wood,
fruits, minerals and fossils, collected in Kutch district, and Dinodar
peak nearby is an interesting geological spot. Agate and other semi-precious
stones are mined along the Gulf of Cambay, near the Narmada valley,
as they have been for the last 4000 years. Imposing rock formations
can be seen at Taranga and Idar in north Gujarat.Itinerary depends
upon individual interest.
