Jain Shrines : Jamui
Lacchaur
The village is situated about 6.5 Kms south of Sikandara in the Jamui district.
Two Jain temples, known as Muth Buddhroop and Muth Purusnath situated some
5 Kms south of the village in a picturesque valley between two paralletl
ranges of hills.
In each of these shrines is a small statue of Lord Mahavira, one of which
dates back to Sambat 1505 while the other appears to be older. The temples
themselves, however, are of recent date, Some Jains hold Lachaur to be
the birth place of Lord Mahavira Swamin, the 24th Tirthankara of the
Jains.
