Just a few steps away from the town start the forests of Sal, Piyal
& Mahua. Cashew also is being grown. Points of attraction are
the Savitri Devi Temple and the Jhargram Palace, now turned into
a tourist lodge. There are a number of private hotels too.
From Jhargram, Belpahari is 45 km on the busroute. Amidst forests
and atop hills.
10 km. past Belpahari is Bhulabheda where from one can trek a stretch
of 18 km to Kankrajhor, a deep forest covering 9,000 hectares and
the habitat of wild animals like bear, wild pigs and occasionally
visited by elephants and panthers. For accommodation, there are
a Forest Bungalow and a Tourist Hostel. 16 km from Jhargram is Chilkigarh
amidst forests, known for its Kanak Durga Temple.

On the remnants of the anicent port of Tamralipta stands present-day
Tarnluk The famous Bargabhima temple is there From Howrah Station
to Tarnluk by bus or from Howrah to Mecheda by local train and from
there by bus.
Mahishadal
From Tarnluk to Mahishadal by bus or frorm Calcutta to Noorpur by
bus, ferry crossing to Geonkhali on the opposite bank. Frorm Geonkhali,
Digha - bound buses take one to Mahishadal and to Tarnluk. The royal
palace is a point of tourist attraction. Rathajatra festival at
Mahishadal is celebrated in a bin way.
