Dhanolti:
23km
from Mussoorie on Mussoorie -Tchri road, Dhanolti is located amidst
thick virgin forests of deodar, rhododendrons & oaks, offering
an atmosphere of peace & tranquility, Dhanolti is an ideal place
for a quite weekend. The long wooded slopes, lazy outings, cool
caressing breeze, warm and hospitable inhabitants, lovely weather
& fabulous view of the snow covered mountains makes it an ideal
retreat for a relaxed holiday.

Chamba:
Further 31 km from Dhanolti the town of Chamba at a height of about
1676 m provides a panoramic view of the Himalayas &C Bhagirathi
Valley from above. The drive is excellent as the road passes through
the fruit orchards. The Chamba- Mussoorie fruit belt is famous for
its delicious apples. A Tourist Bungalow and few other hotels are
available for a comfortable stay. 11 km from Chamba is New Tehri
known for a huge dam project on the massive Bhagirathi river. This
quaint town offers one of the most spectacular view of snow capped
Himalayas.
Surkhanda Devi:
Situated on Mussoorie- Tehri road. 33 km from Mussoorie &c 9
km from Dhanolti, the temple of Surkhanda Devi is situated on the
top of the mountain. At an altitude of about 3030m above sea level
it is a place of great religious significance. Visitors can go upto
Kaddu Khal by bus or by car from here one has to trek about 2 km
to reach the temple. The snow covered Himalayas and the forest area
offer a splendid view. A fair is held every year on Ganga Dussehra
(month of June) in which thousand participate.
Lakha Mandal :
Past Kempty Falls, 75 km from Mussoorie on Mussoorie- Yamunotri
road, one can drive upto Kuwa about 71 km &c from there river
Yamuna is to be crossed by a motorable bridge to reach the place.
One can reach the place via Kaisi which is 30 km from Dehradun Legend
has in that the Kauravas made a Shellac House at this spot and conspired
to burn the Pandavas alive here. 'Lakh' or 'Lac' in Hindi is for
Resin & Mandal means region. While the Pandavas lived here,
Bhirna married Hidimba, the sister of one of the tyrannical chieftain
of this region killed by Bhirna and father Ghatotkach. Eleven generations
of the Seoverman dynasty had ruled over this region. The Shiva temple
believed to be built by widow Ishwara for the salvation other husbands
soul is testimony to the faith that it would stand intact as long
as the earth, the mountains, the moon, the sun and the stars exist.
There are hundreds of idols of archaeological importance preserved
here by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Yamuna Bridge :
27 km from Mussorie & 17 km from Kempty Falls, on the Chakrata-
Barkot road is an ideal spot for fishing. A permit for fishing has
to be obtained from the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mussoorie,
- 632335. The road from Kaisi to Barkot meets here at Yamuna Bridge.
